A Hallway (1982)
"I was walking, and many people of my age were walking with me, down a hallway. This hallway was not the destination, but would lead to another hallway, and then yet another hallway, and so on, preventing us from seeing what was going on in the rooms with identical doors. The classic interior décor of a waiting room, color-coordinated with the carpet, had become our natural habitat, and it seemed that we were allowed to leave the building, but on no condition to enter the rooms, and to continue walking. And so, slipping out a door, I went down into the street and headed for my appointment, somewhat out of breath. Although I was late, I found myself waiting a long time. Then, at a certain point, I realized that I was waiting for myself, but despite this, was not alone."
