BYU finished 2018 with a strong performance I. The Idaho Potato Bowl, including a perfect outing from QB Zach Wilson. Now the Cougars return plenty of experience including nine starters on offense and eight on defense. Wilson started the last seven games last year and provided the spark that BYU needed, and should do even better in his first full season as starter. The problem for BYU is the first part of their schedule. They are the only team to open with four straight Power 5 opponents. And they aren’t easy either. Luckily they host three of those four games, but it will be a very tough way to kick off the season. If you listen to the stats listed in the video, you’ll hear that BYU has struggled to kick off the season the past four years. Expect the same this year. The Cougars have a lot of talent and are capable of pulling off a few upsets like they did last year, but we aren’t calling for it. The Cougars improve, though, and go bowling for a second straight year.
